연구재단, 국내학술지 국제화 위한 '저널선정위원회' 운영

한국연구재단은 국내 학술지의 SCOPUS 등재를 지원키 위한 'SCOPUS 한국저널선정위원회(ECSAC)'를 구성, 운영에 들어간다고 28일 밝혔다.

SCOPUS는 국제적인 인용색인 DB로 네델란드의 민간 학술정보 전문기관인 엘스비어社에서 2004년 구축을 시작, 5000개 이상의 국제 출판사로부터 약 2만여종의 저널과 논문 및 인용정보를 제공하고 있다.

ECSAC는 국내학회 또는 연구소에서 SCOPUS 등재를 신청한 국내학술지를 평가해 SCOPUS 본사의 학술지 선정위원회에 추천하는 역할을 맡게 된다.

선정위원회 구성은 연구재단 등재(후보)지 종수 및 국내 SCOPUS 등재지 규모 등을 고려해 분야별 전문학자 16명으로 조직됐으며 초대 위원장에는 서울대 김정구 교수가 선임됐다.

지금까지는 국내 학술지가 SCOPUS에 등재되기 위해서는 연구자가 개별적으로 엘스비어사와 접촉해야하는 번거로움이 있었고 등재과정도 어렵고 복잡했다.

연구재단은 이번 선정위원회 운영으로 국내 학술지의 SCOPUS 등재절차가 쉬워지고, 신청에서 선정까지의 소요기간도 대폭 단축될 것으로 예상하고 있다.

또 국내학술지의 SCOPUS 등재율이 높아져 국내 논문의 인용률도 동반상승할 수 있어 국내 우수 학술지의 위상도 강화될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

김정구 위원장은 "국내 학술연구의 수준을 높이기 위해서는 국내학술지가 국제적으로 많이 알려지는 것이 필요하다"며 "우수한 학술지를 추천하는 것이 등재 확률을 높일 수 있을 것"이라고 말했다.

한편 연구재단은 학술지의 질적 향상을 위한 특별 세미나를 엘스비어社와 공동으로 30일 재단 서울청사에서 열기로 했다.
